In honor of the start of September, I added a touch of fall to the kitchen shelves. I needed somewhere to put the five whole gourds that grew in my garden this year. A $3 packet of seeds, an unknown amount added to water bill for a grand total of 5 mini gourds. Worth it? The joys of gardening. But the fall decorating part is fun. If you haven’t already heard, let me introduce you to my newest hobby, Christy B’s Barnstand. It’s my take on an honor system roadside farmstand. When naming my farmstand, I decided to keep with the “B” theme after Christy B Photography and this blog, It’s Me, ChristyB. I went with “barnstand” instead of “farmstand” because (1) my farmstand is a mini replica of our barn and (2) I intend to stock a variety of items over and above fresh produce from my gardens. I actually have to give credit to my daughter for suggesting “barnstand”. I think it’s perfect. I’m a sucker for anything sentimental and this barnstand has a pretty special meaning. The wood used was saved from my great-grandparent’s home which was right next to my childhood home. It later became my grandparent’s home. Both sets of grandparents had a garden in the backyard.
