It’s been awhile since I’ve shared our weekly dinner menu. Mainly because stocking the barnstand weekly while working full time left little time for cooking full dinners and sharing on the blog. While the barnstand is closed for the month of January, I took the opportunity to get back into the habit. Here is what is on the menu this week at our house. Thirty minutes before sunset, in the yard, a camera (or cell phone), a tripod and a remote or self-timer. That is all you need for great family photos. As a photographer for 17 years, this is how I captured a few photos of my family this fall. Yes, the family is going to grumble but it’s worth it for the memories, I guarantee. I had a dress I liked so I snapped a cellphone photo, sent it in a group text and told everyone to find something to coordinate with the date and the time to meet at our house and a promise to be done in 30 minutes. 2025 POTTING BENCH | SOUTH FLOWER BED

It has taken eight years of living here but I finally feel like I have the south side of the house looking exactly how I want it packed full of luscious foliage. My DIY potting bench is center stage and the star of the show. Yes, I actually use it when potting plants. When not in use, it’s dressed to the nines holding my terra cotta pot collection and lots of pretties. For the first time, I went with succulents rather than flowers on the potting bench and I’m loving it. The flowers always dried out too quickly in the south facing full sun and never grew to their potential even when watered twice a day. The succulents are as happy as can be here, are so much easier to take care for watering once every few days and I can overwinter and put them out again next year....
