MAGICAL PUMPKIN TREE LIGHTS | EASY DIY
10/14/2025
If you want an extremely easy and cute Halloween idea for outdoors, try creating pumpkin tree lights using the $2 pumpkin pails from Walmart. Drill holes in the bottom to allow any rain water to drain that could weigh the pumpkins down and break tree branches. Simply hang in trees using zip ties. So cute! To light up at night for a magical scene, add battery-operated pumpkin lights. I only use these for short periods of time and mostly save for Halloween night as each light takes three AAA batteries and will last less than a week if used for multiple hours every night. The lights come with a remote that allows for easy turn on and several timer options. The night photos don’t do the lights justice. It really is magical.

I love our back patio but the one big drawback was during the day, there was no shade to be had which made it basically unusable on a hot summer day. My solution – a big umbrella. Rather than buying numerous umbrellas, I wanted a rolling umbrella base that could be moved wherever shade was needed. It needed to be at least a 50-pound base to securely hold our 9-foot umbrella. Let’s just say, heavy-duty rolling umbrella stands are pricey at around $300-$400 or more. We DIY-ed a rolling umbrella base, instead. I bought a 50-pound steel plate umbrella base and my husband added casters for a total of $150. The real reason I wanted the umbrella to roll is for shade of our sweet Emmie Lou. She loves laying on the outdoor couch during the day but gets so hot. We can now roll the umbrella wherever needed...

It’s going to be a busy year. There is a wedding coming up. Our son is getting married. Welcome to the family, Emily! I dusted off my camera for a few engagement photos. They chose the beautiful speakeasy, The W, for their photos. Here are a few of my personal favorites. Logan and Emily are having a destination wedding this summer and the reception is going to be this September…in our barn. We’ve got a lot of planning to do. You know I love to throw a party! Stay tuned for peaks at all the wedding reception prep and DIY projects to come.
