FALL INSPIRED KITCHEN SHELVES | 2024
09/09/2024
In honor of the start of September, I added a touch of fall to the kitchen shelves. I needed somewhere to put the five whole gourds that grew in my garden this year. A $3 packet of seeds, an unknown amount added to water bill for a grand total of 5 mini gourds. Worth it? The joys of gardening. But the fall decorating part is fun. If you haven’t already heard, let me introduce you to my newest hobby, Christy B’s Barnstand. It’s my take on an honor system roadside farmstand. When naming my farmstand, I decided to keep with the “B” theme after Christy B Photography and this blog, It’s Me, ChristyB. I went with “barnstand” instead of “farmstand” because (1) my farmstand is a mini replica of our barn and (2) I intend to stock a variety of items over and above fresh produce from my gardens. I actually have to give credit to my daughter for suggesting “barnstand”. I think it’s perfect. I’m a sucker for anything sentimental and this barnstand has a pretty special meaning. The wood used was saved from my great-grandparent’s home which was right next to my childhood home. It later became my grandparent’s home. Both sets of grandparents had a garden in the backyard. I can remember...

SUMMER FLOWERS GARDEN TABLE | 2024
08/01/2024
Back at the first of the year I adopted “make everyday special” as my motto for 2024. Still making it a point to live by that motto, I turned my garden table into a floral oasis for a cozy outdoor dinner. I cut flowers from my wildflower patch and added a few candles to old jelly jars. My “ugly” table saved from a shed that was torn down makes the perfect garden table. Normally it holds the day’s garden harvest. This evening it became a beautiful dining table in the garden. Jelly jars held candles for light and the floral stems twirled in the wind. Pure summer magic. As the sun went down, it was even more magical. Remember my garden arch fairly lights? They were the perfect backdrop as our outdoor dinner came to an end. A perfect summer evening and a simple way to make an ordinary...
