Buy me a dairy cow and put it in the backyard. I made homemade butter. And it’s so simple.

Whip 2 cups heavy cream in a mixer or blender until it turns to butter and separates from the butter milk, 10-15 minutes. Strain butter milk from butter. (Reserve butter milk to culture for buttermilk in baking, if desired.) Place butter into a very cold bowl of water. Squeeze out remaining liquid, changing water several times, until water remains clear. (The colder the water, the less the butter will stick to your hands.). Dry out butter in a paper towel or clean dish towel. Add 1/8 teaspoon sea salt to flavor the butter and mix in well. You can omit salt if using butter for baking. Store finished butter in a dish or form into a rectangle in parchment paper. Store in refrigerator up to one week or seal tightly and freeze.

ST. PATRICK’S // Someone asked me the other day if I decorated for St Patrick’s Day. Is the grass green? If it’s a holiday, I’m going to do something to celebrate. It’s not much but I did add a little Irish magic to the dining room table. I never miss a reason to celebrate (even if I’m not the least bit Irish).

GOODBYE, WINTER - HELLO, SPRING // I can’t wait any longer. Daylight savings is the unofficial start of spring in my book. While I loved the winter arch full of bird treats (the birds visited often), I couldn’t wait any longer to get outside and bust out the spring color.

WE MADE IT // We made it through the dreary dark days! Daylight savings starts tonight and the joy the extra light brings me fills my cup. I’ll gladly exchange an hour of sleep tonight for a summer full of sunlight and any excuse to get my hands back in the dirt.
