I’ve been eager to get outdoors in the nice spring weather. After a long winter, the barn was looking drab and boring and needed a refresh.

A quick sweep, a little rearranging and a pop of color in the planters brought things back to life.

I don’t normally put anything in the planters at the barn until the summer ferns. But, after I cleaned up the front porch for spring and used yellow forsythia, I wanted to add a pop of color at the barn, too. I always use faux plants/flowers at the barn because there is no water down there. From the road, I don’t think you can really tell if they are real or faux and the yellow looks cute from my kitchen window. I used eight stems per pot and they look pretty full. I was worried about the flowers blowing off in the wind but we had 30 mile per hour winds the other day and they still look good as new. If I do see a random flower on the ground, I just stick it right back on the branch. And since they are covered from the rain and direct sun, I’ll be able to reuse the stems year after year.

These are the front porch pots. Now I have cute yellow flowers all around the house spreading cheer each time I drive by.

The back patio got some yellow cheer, too.
