FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HER FIRST HOUSE
12/22/2025Welcome to an “Anthropologie Christmas on a Dollar Tree budget” as our daughter puts it. It’s her first Christmas in her very own house and she made it magical.

She created art from free digital downloads and framing scraps of wrapping paper. Thrifted finds like a vintage Christmas record serves as decoration, too.

A thrifted wooden bowl holds her great-grandma’s antique Christmas ornaments. They are displayed on an old stagecoach trunk inherited from her dad’s side of the family. He welded a base and turned it into a coffee table which we used for years in our own home.

A screensaver on YouTube legit makes the TV look like a frame TV.

She created this art in Canva, had it printed on blueprint paper at Office Depot and hung it with a magnetic picture hanger from Temu.

Her Christmas tree is decorated with ribbon, DIY paint filled ornaments, tinsel, and ornaments collected over the years. I started the tradition of giving my kids a new ornament every year since the year they were born so they would have a good start when they moved out. I hope they bring back magical memories every year they are unwrapped.

Funny story – her boyfriend asked her if her home was a pop-up Christmas bar. It certainly could be and I love it!

Her little cutie kitchen.

A thrifted platter, a red and white Better Homes & Gardens cookbook an inexpensive pie pan fill the festive shelves.

Her first sewing attempt turned felt and puff paint into the adorable merry garland. We made the yarn pom pom garland years ago.

The cozy holiday vibes continue in the bedroom.

This dresser was given to me by Santa when I was in grade school. My sister used it in her house for awhile, our son used it at college and now it lives on in our daughter’s home.

The little nativity set was given to me by my grandma and this year I passed it on to Kylie.

All items from her old room at home.

No room is off limits from Christmas. I taught her well.

My first home at Christmas was not near as adorable as hers. I’m a wee bit jealous. It goes to show it doesn’t have to cost a lot to make a festive home.
