HOUSEPLANT SUMMER VACATION // We made it, my houseplants and I, through the long, cold winter. And now it’s time to spend our summer where we thrive - outdoors.

Our west facing front porch is the perfect shady spot for my houseplants to enjoy the humidity and come back to life after struggling inside all winter. It’s an inexpensive way to bring the porch to life with sea of green rather than purchasing a bunch of annual flowers each year. I’ve done this same thing for the past three years and I absolutely love it.

MAY DAY GIVEAWAY // Happy first day of May. It’s a new month filled with warmth, sun and lots of beautiful flowers.

Did you celebrate May Day in school? I can remember coloring paper baskets and flowers. When I got home, I headed next door and hung them on my great-grandparents door, gave it a knock and run back home peaking to see them discover the surprise. Perks of living in the country.

In honor of the May Day tradition, I’m gifting this cute basket to one of my customers/followers. Filled with freshly cut iris from my garden, zinnia seed bombs and cute little seed packets for growing your own flowers. It is currently in the barnstand waiting to brighten someone’s day. If you’ve been to the barnstand, you know where to find it! First one there is the lucky winner.

All these homegrown goodies will also be in the barnstand for purchase this weekend for our official summer grand opening. There will be many cute gifts for mom and fresh baked goods for all. Here’s to a wonderful summer ahead full of road side honor-system farm stands. Happy May Day!

A DAY IN MY LIFE // Working 9-5 wishing I was playing in my garden instead. Actually, I can’t complain too much. I roll over in bed as my alarm goes off at 7:25am, grab my computer and I’m working from bed at 7:30am. You’ll never get that vision out of your head now. Sorry! Thankfully they don’t make us turn cameras on for meetings! Work, vet appt., work, laundry, work, eat, work and walk, finally done! Not too exciting but it’s #reallife.

I don’t take many portraits anymore but I dusted off the camera for some engagement photos. Here are a few of my personal favorites. A wedding/flash photographer I am not but it was fun shooting in such a cool place.

Logan and Emily are having a destination wedding this summer and the reception is going to be this September…in our barn. We’ve got a lot of planning to do. You know I love to throw a party! Stay tuned for peaks at all the wedding reception prep and DIY projects to come.

EDIBLE PEEPS PLAYDOUGH // Here is a fun Easter project that is great for both the younger and older kiddos because it is colorful playdough but it’s also edible.

PEEPS EDIBLE PLAYDOUGH
5 Peeps
3T. powdered sugar
1 t. coconut oil

Place ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 20 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir to combine. On a sheet of waxed paper, dust with additional powdered sugar. Knead dough continuing to add powdered sugar until no longer sticky and fully combined. Repeat the process with different colored Peeps, if desired. Store in an airtight container.

If you don’t want the mess of making your own, be sure to drop by the barnstand Saturday, April 19th, to grab our pre-made edible Peeps playdough for a fun Easter gift.
